B.S.ED. IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION

Admissions and Requirements Information

You must be admitted to C.O.E.'s teacher-education program before you take any education courses except EDF 200, EDF 301W and ESE 380. Carefully review the information about admission requirements available from C.O.E.'s Student Services.

B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education Requirements

To earn this degree, you must complete the four components described in the following section. No minor is required for this degree; instead, you must complete an 18-hour content emphasis.

Liberal Studies Requirements : 35 hours (minimum)
Major Requirements : 54 hours (minimum)
Content Emphasis : 18 hours (minimum)
General Electives : 13 hours (minimum)

TOTAL : 120*hours

* Be aware that some courses required for your degree may have prerequisites that you must also take. Check all course descriptions to find out. (You may be able to count these prerequisites toward your liberal studies or elective credit).

Please note that NAU requires that at least 30 hours of the courses you take for your degree must be upper-division courses

Content Emphasis 4 (18 hours minimum)

A content emphasis is a concentration of studies in a particular field or subject area required for all elementary education majors.

Electives (13 hours minimum to reach the degree minimum total of 120 hours)

1 All major courses must be completed with minimum grade of C.
2 Admission to the Teacher Education Program required.
3 Requires minimum cumulative NAU grade point average of 2.5 and minimum cumulative education g. p. a. of 2.5.
4 All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C
