You may take the reading endorsement courses as part of an education master's degree program or as a
15 hour stand-alone program for just the endorsement. You must have a valid teaching certificate to qualify
for the endorsement. This program has been developmentally designed, with each course building upon the
previous course's content.
You must take these courses in the designated sequence:
- ECI 531 - Foundations of Reading Instruction
- ECI 541 - Corrective and Remedial Reading
- ECI 551 - Clinical Practice in Reading
- ECI 661 - Administration and Supervision of Reading Programs
- Designated elective
Further, ECI 541 and ECI 551 cannot be taken concurrently.
An elective course, chosen from a list of related reading courses, completes the 15 hour program.
These reading endorsement courses are offered throughout the year at many locations around the state.
In addition, students can take all of these courses through on-line, web delivery.
